It’s good to talk

Listen out for our student telephone callers this month and next, as the University is holding its 13th Annual Fund Telephone Campaign.

Last year, our alumni donated a record-breaking £156,500, funding projects and facilities that have a direct effect on the lives of thousands of students studying at Surrey. This year’s campaign runs until 6 March.

If you are called, we hope you will enjoy hearing about University life as it is today. We know the students certainly love hearing about your time at Surrey and what you are doing now.

One of our previous telephone callers, Ruth Dunlop, who studied Mathematics, said: “The best part of the telephone campaign for me was learning how two people with the same degree can follow completely different career paths.

“Talking to alumni gave me so many career ideas and it was encouraging to learn that the degree you do does not box you into one particular job type. Everyone I spoke to was very positive about the placement year offered at Surrey and the one thing everyone mentioned when asked if they had visited the campus since graduation was the trees, either commenting on how much they had grown or how they enhance the campus appearance.”
