"The Biological Sciences degree programme appealed to me because it covers so many different areas of bioscience. I didn’t want to have to specialise straight away, so the opportunity to explore a diverse range of fields in the first year, then choose modules tailored to my interests later on, was a winner for me.  I was also impressed by Surrey’s high league table rankings.

My personal tutor is always willing to help as much as he can and the academic staff are genuinely friendly and make a conscious effort to involve students in lectures to help bring topics to life and aid understanding.

The practical classes are a highlight of the course for me. We’ve covered a wide range of subjects and there is a strong drive towards group work which makes the experience far more sociable and interactive.

The laboratories are excellent and you’re able to work with a range of media, from bacterial cultures to live tissues. The library also some really nice spaces to work in including silent areas for genuine focus, large group study tables and private rooms, as well as an immense number of computers.

The course has really pushed me, giving me a strong drive to succeed. I am proud to be president of BioSoc and I’m eager to explore the options for a Professional Training placement year abroad."
