Research at the University of Surrey classed as ‘world-leading’ by major review
The 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) has classified a significant amount of research at the University of Surrey as 'world-leading,' in its report published this week.
The 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) assessed the quality and impact of research submitted by UK universities across all disciplines. It replaced the RAE, which was previously conducted in 2008. In terms of overall quality profile, the University performed better than in RAE2008.
Professor Sir Christopher Snowden, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Surrey said, “I am pleased that the REF outcome shows that a significant amount of our research is classified as world leading and that 98% is considered to be of ‘world leading, internationally excellent or internationally recognised’. We have already started the process of building on this success to make even greater strides forward in the coming years.”
