Surrey to host major tourism conference

The University of Surrey will welcome tourism businesses from across the local region when it plays host the Tourism South East Conference in September.

Emphasising the importance of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management in the sector, the Tourism South East 2013 AGM, Tourism Council and Members' Conference will be held at the University of Surrey on 19 September 2013.

Tourism South East is a not-for-profit organisation that provides services and expertise to support the performance and growth of tourism businesses in the region. This year’s conference is on the theme of ‘Knowing & Connecting with your Customers’ and will feature contributions from  industry leaders and experts providing insight, practical advice and an inside view of their experience in the industry.

Professor Graham Miller, Head of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, said: ““We are committed to producing the highest quality students who are engaged with the commercial industry and we look forward to the chance to showcase our students and campus to all the Tourism South East delegates”.

The event comes at a celebratory time for the School, which has recently been rated top in the country for student satisfaction in the NSS 2013, as well as ranking number one for the subject as a whole in the Guardian University Guide 2014, the fifth consecutive year that Surrey has topped the league tables in the field.
