Surrey student acquires Google placement

Computing undergraduate Yatin Vadhia secures summer internship with Google.

Surrey’s second-year Computing student Yatin Vadhia is set to spend his summer with Google, following a successful Professional Training year at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence and previous internship at Atos for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

"Google is one of the top IT companies in the world, so this is a very exciting opportunity for me"

“I applied directly to Google’s internship scheme and after several interviews was offered the role,” Yatin said. “I’ll now spend 13 weeks working on ‘Product Quality Operations’, fighting spam, fraud and abuse across all Google products.

“Google is one of the top IT companies in the world, so this is a very exciting opportunity for me. I’m not due to finish my degree for another year, and know that this experience will help strengthen my CV. I can’t wait to spend my summer in Dublin!”

Dr Lee Gillam, Senior Lecturer and Professional Training Tutor within Surrey’s Department of Computing said, “The graduate employment market is highly competitive, and high-profile placement and internship opportunities such as these are no less difficult to obtain. With these work experiences under his belt, and a Surrey degree, Yatin will be very well prepared for graduate employment in 2015.”
