Surrey undergraduate wins ‘placement student of the year’ award

Abtahee Islam, an International Business Management student at Surrey Business School, has won an Enactus UK Placement Student of the Year award.

The award, presented for his work at Unilever, was made in recognition of Abtahee’s work in developing the partnership between Unilever and Enactus UK, the social entrepreneurship organisation.

“I was delighted to win the Placement Student of the Year award with my friend and colleague Oli Monks. It has been great to continue my contribution to Enactus whilst on placement and help Unilever strengthen their work with an organisation it shares it values with”, said Abtahee. “I have really enjoyed my placement at Unilever. It’s interesting working on a category and part of the business that is under a lot of focus to deliver results.”

“I have also benefited from having one of our Category Managers as a mentor. She has been giving me insights into other areas of the business, tips on working with different types of people, and advice on how I can improve my own work.”

As a result of his successful placement, Abtahee’s contract has been extended until 23 July.
