University hosts inaugural Surrey Winter Statistics School
The Department of Health Care Management and Policy (DHCMP) runs introductory medical statistics course.
The Surrey Winter Statistics School was a three-day course hosted by the Clinical Informatics and Health Outcomes research group, providing an intensive introduction on how to run statistical tests on medical data.
Running from 8-10 January 2014 at the University’s Rik Medlik Building, the School was led by Professor Simon Jones of DHCMP and built on the success of the Surrey Informatics Summer School.
The School was designed for researchers, clinicians and health services analysts who wanted an introduction to medical statistics and to learn how to use ‘R’, a free, powerful statistical package that attendees can continue to use after the course.
Open to staff, students and members of the public, the School was taught by leading informatics academics and practitioners.
