University plans for West Guildford move a step closer
Land owned by the University of Surrey has been included in Guildford Borough Council’s draft Local Plan.
Guildford Borough Council is required under the Planning Act to produce a Local Plan that outlines how housing, schooling and infrastructure could be planned to meet resident needs up to 2031. It will consider the document on 15 May before launching a 12 week public consultation in July.
The University’s view is that the Local Plan provides a once-in-a-generation opportunity to solve a number of the town’s issues while providing a platform for sensible and sustainable growth. Surrey is keen to help the Council explore potential options for development, and believes that its own site in West Guildford could provide a solution to both the town and the University’s need to grow in the future.
