Professor Gill Elliott holds a BSc in Microbiology and a PhD in Molecular Virology.
Professor Elliott’s research is focussed on the cell biology of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection – a virus not only responsible for cold sores, but also the leading cause of infectious blindness in the developed world and a major cofactor for infection with HIV. She teaches virology on various modules offered on our biosciences programmes, and is a leading member of the Infectious Diseases Research Group.
Commenting on her new role, Professor Elliott said, “We have excellent research and teaching in our Department, and I am looking forward to working with my colleagues over the coming years to develop these strengths further.”
