The Millett Award is available to eligible students studying STEM subjects to support them in undertaking their professional training year placement in the industry outside the UK during 2020/21. Three awards of £5,000 are available.

Eligibility criteria for the The Millett Award 2020 entry

  1. Applicants must be undertaking their international professional training year during 2020/21 academic year and paying the full professional training year fees of £1,850 (therefore courses that do not offer a full professional training year are not eligible).
  2. Applicants must be studying a STEM subject
  3. Applicants must have secured a placement before applying for the Millett Award
  4. Applicants must fall into one or more of the following specific widening participation categories which include:
  1. Black or Asian students
  2. Ethnic Minority students
  3. Low Participation Neighbourhoods (LPN) POLAR4 Quintiles 1 or 2*
  4. Disabled students

*POLAR (participation of local areas) is a classification used for the participation of young people in higher education by geographical area in the UK. It is also used by the Office for Students (OfS) to measure the widening participation performance of universities. To check the POLAR4 quintile of your home postcode
