Investigation into the fracture toughness of various materials
We have opportunities for bright and enthusiastic individuals with our EngD programme.
Stipend of £19,900
You’ll be sponsored by Culham Fusion Energy in Abingdon Oxon where you will be based, you will return to the University here in Guildford for some elements of the programme. You’ll be looking at the fracture toughness of various materials and how their fracture toughness changes during irradiation.
During your research you will attend events such as scientific and non-scientific short courses, meetings, and the annual EngD conference and use our excellent characterisation facilities.
You’ll need to have a good undergraduate degree (first or upper-second class honours) or a masters degree at merit or above in a subject with some physical sciences content; a materials science background would be advantageous.
You need to be a UK/EU resident to be eligible to apply and non-UK applicants need to satisfy English qualification requirements – more information is available on request.
