This 3.5 year PhD studentship will cover a stipend of £19,000 per annum and Home/EU fees.
About
The internal air system within a gas turbine engine is critical to the efficiency of modern engines. This project will concentrate on the development of tools to quantify the effect of uncertainty (for example in manufacturing tolerances) on the performance of the system. The successful candidate will have an interest in computer programming and strong mathematical skills. The project will be in collaboration with Rolls-Royce and will involve regular meetings with Rolls-Royce stakeholders.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants should have an upper second (or better) degree in engineering or a related subject.
How to apply
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Prof. Nick Hills (n.hills@surrey.ac.uk). Formal applications should be made through our Aerodynamics programme page.
The position is available to start immediately and the successful applicant must be able to start before 1st Oct. 2018.
