Available array types

We provide spotted oligo, PCR-product and high density ink-jet in situ synthesised Streptomyces microarrays on a world-wide scale. 


Spotted Oligo array
This array comprises 50mer oligonucleotide probes representing all S. coelicolor ORFs, including SCP1. Each probe is spotted in duplicate. This oligo set was developed in collaboration with MWG Biotech AG. This array is recommended for analysis of gene expression and genome content of S. coelicolor and close relatives such as S. lividans. Due to the high specificity of the oligo probes this array is not recommended for experiments with other Streptomyces species. For the latter we recommend the spotted PCR-based microarray. Please note that these arrays are compatible with the MAUI XL mixer, a mechanised hybridisation station.

Spotted PCR-product array
This array comprises 150bp-500bp  PCR amplification products of most of the S. coelicolor ORFs including SCP1.  Pseudogenes, transposons and insertion elements have not been included on the array. Each probe is spotted in duplicate. This array is recommended for analysis of gene expression and genome content of streptomycetes that are not closely related to S. coelicolor and close relatives such as S. lividans. For such experiments with S. coelicolor and close relatives we recommend the spotted oligo array. Please note that these arrays are compatible with the MAUI XL mixer, a mechanised hybridisation station.

Versatile high density ink-jet in situ synthesised (IJISS) microarrays for ChIP-on-chip, expression and CGH analysis 
We have developed two microarray formats in collaboration with Oxford Gene Technology: 1) ca. 44,000 experimentally validated 60-mer oligonucleotides which cover both coding and intergenic regions (one strand only) of the S. coelicolor genome (for primary publication click here). 2) ca. 105,000 experimentally validated 60-mer oligonucleotides which cover both coding and intergenic regions at higher density including both strands of the latter (for primary publication click here).

 These are synthesised by the ink-jet in situ synthesis (IJISS) technology of Agilent Technologies Inc. (USA). These arrays are designed for genome wide analysis of expression, genome content and binding sites of transcription factors and other DNA binding proteins when combined with chromatin immunoprecipitation of target proteins.
