Surrey Deputy Vice-Chancellor awarded OBE

Royal honour recognises Professor Gill Nicholls' contribution to Higher Education.

Professor Gill Nicholls, Vice-President and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Affairs, was named as an OBE in The Queen’s birthday honours list. She was presented with her award - made in recognition of her contribution to Higher Education in the UK and around the world - by Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, at a celebration event at Windsor Castle.

Professor Nicholls said: “I am extremely proud for both myself and the University of Surrey. This award is the culmination of many years’ work in this sector, during which time I have had the opportunity to contribute to national and international policy and practice in Higher Education.

“Over the years, working in four different universities, I have had the pleasure of engaging with very talented teams. Without their support, change could not have happened and policy would not have been influenced for the good of the sector. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank those colleagues who have supported me throughout my career.”
