Chemical Engineering Superheroes at the Festival of Wonder

Scientific theories and reactions from the Chemical Engineering arena

The Department of Chemical and Process Engineering had an Engineering of Superheroes stall at the Festival of Wonder on Saturday 13th May.   The stall was run by Dr Suze Kundu, with the help of undergraduate students Shivani Kumar, Rheya Soares and Conor Crainey.   Dr Kundu presented scientific theories and reactions from the Chemical Engineering arena which link to the idea of superheroes.   The exciting demonstrations involved invisibility (making objects disappear using glycerol), bulletproofness (creating a hardened substance) and nanomachines and self-assembling materials.

The Tailby Society was also represented on the Department’s stall and they were able to speak to many graduates, across a wide range of years.
