The workshop was attended by 34 Shanghai students. Their feedback on the course was excellent, with many positive comments, such as ‘Amazing study experiences’ or ‘The course is very different from which I have learnt in China, and I think the knowledge I have learnt here is very useful’. Surrey staff also commented on how much they enjoyed interacting with the Chinese students.
The University hosted a Summer Workshop for Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (SJTUSM) students in July/August, 2017. The workshop opened with 3 weeks of language classes run by the Language School and three weeks of science topics such as ethics, health economic and biosciences practical skills, organized by the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (FHMS).
The closing ceremony was hosted by Professor Vince Emery, Senior Vice-President (Global Strategy and Engagement) and attended by Professor Mei Wenham, Deputy Director of Academic Affairs, SJTUSM. Students and both Surrey and Shanghai tutors involved in the course attended the closing ceremony and enjoyed speeches by Professor Emery and students representative. The students were presented with certificates marking their completion of the course, by Professor Helen Griffiths, Dean of FHMS.
We wish the Shanghai students well for the remainder of their course and look forward to welcoming more Shanghai students to the University to attend future courses.
