The two Best Paper Awards are:
(1) The following paper won the 2017 IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation Outstanding Paper Award:
Xingyi Zhang, Ye Tian, Ran Cheng, and Yaochu Jin. An efficient approach to non-dominated sorting for evolutionary multi-objective optimization. IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, 19(2):201-213, 2015.
The co-author Ran Cheng is a former PhD student of Surrey CS, supervised by Prof Yaochu Jin. The award will be given at the 2018 IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence (WCCI 2018) to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
(2) The following paper won the 2017 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC 2017) Best Student Paper Award:
Tinkle Chugh, Karthik Sindhya, Kaisa Miettinen, Yaochu Jin, Tomas Kratky, and Pekka Makkonen. Surrogate-assisted evolutionary multiobjective shape optimization of an air intake ventilation system. IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation, June 4-8, San Sabastian, Spain, 2017
The first co-author Tinkle Chugh, who received the award at the Congress, is a current PhD student Prof Yaochu Jin is supervising at the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland, in his role as a Finland Distingsuished Professor (FiDiPro) there. Tinkle Chugh has been with Surrey CS as a visiting PhD student twice.
