Athena SWAN Bronze Award

Congratulations to the Department of Electronic Engineering who have been successful in their application for an Athena SWAN Bronze Award. The awards are given in recognition of the commitment to advance women’s careers in higher education and research in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine.

The award, which is valid until April 2018, is a reflection of the importance of the status of women in academic roles, the progression of students into academia and the working environment for all staff. The bid for the award was led by Dr Kevin Wells and a team consisting of Dr Chris Bridges, Professor Karen Kirkby, Professor Josef Kittler, Dr Emma Lewis, Ms Michaela Spiteri and Dr Radu Sporea.

Dr Kevin Wells commented 'I am delighted with the outcome of our submission and would like to thank all members of the EE Athena SWAN team for all the extra time and effort made in the final completion of the submission, and for the support that we received from Surrey's Senior Management team'.

The awards ceremony will be held in June 2015 at the University of Greenwich.
