Beginning and Valuing Lives: Some Big Questions and Why Little Things Matter

Inspired by her experience at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, Ann went on to work as a mental health nurse, educator and then on to a career in research.  Her research topics have included dignity in care, professionalism, ethics education, virtue ethics and slow ethics'. 

With her lecture entitled 'Values for 21st Century Care' Ann shared insights that she has gained, the background to the development of the International Care Ethics Observatory with the Ethox Foundation and the role of the international journal Nursing Ethics.  She also identified some of the challenges and opportunities that relate to 21st century care ethics and took stock of progress so far, suggesting directions of travel.
