Diogo Berta Pitz - PhD, Thermo-Fluid Systems Uiniversity Technology Centre
The computational facilities available at the UTC allow high resolution calculations to be performed.
I am a PhD student at the Thermo-Fluid Systems UTC since July 2014, in partnership with the Science without Borders programme of the Brazilian government.
My research is focused on the Direct Numerical Simulation of buoyant flows in rotating cavities using high-order numerical methods. The study is relevant in industrial applications such as flow between rotating disks in turbomachinery internal air systems, where the effect of centrifugal buoyancy on the flow structure is not yet clear.
The computational facilities available at the UTC allow high resolution calculations to be performed. The presence of other PhD students and post doctoral researchers creates a favorable environment to develop an innovative research project.
