Dr Ana Frankenberg-Garcia awarded AHRC grant

Dr Ana Frankenberg-Garcia has been awarded a large AHRC grant entitled 'Collocaid': combining learner needs, lexicographic data and digital writing environments to help learners write more idiomatically.

Dr Ana Frankenberg-Garcia has received a 36 month grant of almost £700 000 (over £300 000 for Surrey) from the AHRC for her research. Dr Frankenberg-Garcia's project aims to investigate how information to help writers produce more accurate and idiomatic texts can be migrated from dictionaries and corpora to digital writing environments in an optimum, minimally intrusive way, without disrupting writing processes. Focus will be given to supporting novice and non-native writers of English with information to help them employ academic collocations. The project addresses a very real and significant problem, and has a lot of potential for very significant and tangible impact. Dr Frankenberg-Garcia is the PI and will be working with Professor Jonathan Roberts from Bangor, and Professor Robert Lew from Poznan as co-investigators.
