International Retailing Guest Speaker - Andrew Jennings

In March 2019 our final year undergraduate International Retailing class was delighted to be visited by world renowned retail leader, Andrew Jennings.  Andrew has had an illustrious retail career with senior leadership roles at Saks Fifth Avenue, Harrods, House of Fraser, Holt Renfrew, Brown Thomas, Woolworths (South Africa) and Karstadt, amongst others.

"We very much appreciate Andrew taking the time to speak to our students and provoke such an interesting and relevant discussion.  It is also a credit to our students that they contributed to such a thought provoking and forward-looking debate.  Many of the class are moving onto graduate roles in marketing and retailing so Andrew’s insights from an international perspective will prove invaluable"

Professor Steve Wood, Director of Research at Surrey Business School

Rather than a traditional lecture format, the class enjoyed a more relaxed ‘masterclass’ approach whereby Andrew reflected on the current challenges in the retail landscape before then fielding questions from the class, which drew on issues as diverse as managing brands in different contexts, understanding the role of digital and online in relation to bricks and mortar stores and remaining relevant for an ever changing consumer.
