Introducing our Managing in the Digital Economy Summer School
At Surrey Business School, we’re always adapting our programmes to reflect the needs of society and industry. The digital industry is fast-paced and ever-changing and the disruption of digital means we are constantly adapting how we think and learn. With this in mind, we’re excited to welcome undergraduates and recent graduates across all disciplines to join us for a stimulating two-week learning experience this summer to explore key theoretical and practical grounding in the digital space.
"We would like to welcome all students to attend our summer school which is designed to help our future leaders develop their entrepreneurial skills and mindset. All our academics have extensive experience in theory and practice and looking forward to welcoming our first ever summer school students to nurture their capabilities and entrepreneurial drive. We live in a competitive environment where organisations are channelling their efforts on getting the best talent and hence, by attending our summer school programme, you would be able to learn and develop these transferable skills required by your future employers."
Dr Zeineb Cox, Teaching Fellow in Entrepreneurship.
Taught by our leading academics, the curriculum has been designed to help you identify and assess the relevance of digital innovation in today’s global business environment while learning key employability skills, which will help you stand out in the competitive graduate market. You’ll gain key entrepreneurial skills and learn to use tools such as business models canvas and value proposition canvas. As well as developing practical skills by learning the fundamentals of coding, digital design, wireframing and prototyping. You’ll put these skills into practice to build an animated website using HTML and CSS, and a mobile app using Swift or Java. Furthermore, a group-based project will allow you to develop an application-based business following the completion of in-depth industry analysis, marketing and forecasting. Throughout the busy programme, you’ll take part in excursions, listen to guest speakers and be invited to an end of summer school social event to mark your achievements.
Our campus is perfectly located, with close proximity to London and international airports. While studying we encourage you to take advantage of our location and explore Guildford which is just a 10-minute walk from campus. Guilford is packed full of shops, restaurants and popular night time spots. Your learning and accommodation will be based on campus.
