Local history tour
As part of its ongoing programme of activity for local residents, the University was pleased to offer a talk and tour Thursday 9 March 2017 for a local group of historians.
The talk was be given by our libraries and archives staff in the George Edwards Building focued on our 50th year and our 125 year history stemming from our roots at Battersea College in London. This was followed by a short campus tour of the older historic parts of our campus.
Matthew Alexander, Honorary Remembrancer of Guildford said: “I am writing on behalf of Guildford Museum's adult education class to repeat the our thanks for the excellent tour you arranged for us on Thursday. Please also convey our thanks to Melanie Peart for the talk she gave us. It gave us an insight into the background to the University and its present work."
I had previously told my class that the University of Surrey was the dynamo at the heart of modern Guildford, and everything we saw confirmed this.
