Musicians gather for Surrey’s biggest Orchestra Day ever
The University of Surrey’s Orchestra welcomed talented local musicians to their Stag Hill campus for their sixth annual Orchestra Day on Sunday 2 February 2020.

The Orchestra Day, organised by the Department of Music and Media, was the biggest ever since the event’s inception in 2015. Players performed a rendition of one of Tchaikovsky’s most popular works, his Symphony No. 6 ‘Pathétique’.
The admission-free concert provided local musicians with a unique opportunity to play alongside Surrey’s music students and staff, and to work with the Orchestra’s eminent conductor, Russell Keable.
Russell commented: “It’s a fantastic way of drawing the local community to campus, sharing our facilities and giving something back to Guildford. Whether you’re a player or member of the audience, it’s a thoroughly enjoyable day for all.”
