SBS hosts new webinar series joined by Lord O'Neill
On Wednesday 3 November, Surrey Business School academics will be hosting their first webinar in the new series 'Doing Business in Emerging Markets.' They'll be joined by guest speaker Lord O’Neill, former chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management and a former Chair of Chatham House.
Some of the emerging markets economies that, twenty years ago, were mainly commodities exporters and low-cost manufacturing locations, are now the new frontiers in innovation and global providers of technology services. However, risks associated with political and economic instability, trade sanctions, and institutional voids still exist and need to be carefully balanced with the opportunities offered by these economies.
In the webinar, we'll be joined by guest speaker Lord O’Neill, former chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management and a former Chair of Chatham House, to explore the vector of the evolution of emerging markets in the past two decades, since Lord O’Neill coined the BRIC acronym (Brazil, Russia, India, and China), and the winning strategies for the ever-changing political and economic landscapes of emerging markets.
Topics to be discussed during the webinar include:
- What are emerging markets economies and how have they changed during the past two decades?
- What are the opportunities and risks of doing business in emerging markets?
- What is co-opetition and how does it change the way of doing business in emerging markets?
- How can government engagement impact corporate competitive advantage?
