Student Services and Administration community day

Over 45 colleagues from Student Services and Administration participated in a community day during the week commencing 7th November, undertaking voluntary activities at nine different local charities and organisations.

Colleagues visited The Phoenix Cultural Centre in Woking where they helped to clear an old nightclub to turn into a non-profit live music and arts centre, SeeAbility - a centre for the blind in Guildford, helped with a range of outdoor maintenance tasks at Gilbert White’s House.

Other charities visited included the Fountain Centre where colleagues helped put the garden ‘to bed’, Woking Hospice, Guildford Food Bank, Mane Chance and Cherry Trees – a local organisation which provides respite care for children and young people with severe learning and physical disabilities,

Feedback from staff and the charities has once again been extremely positive.

Ann from Guildford food bank was extremely grateful for the assistance “What can I say, the team were amazing today. I never thought we would get nearly as far as we did. You literally moved mountains of food for me, to clear the garage, get it all into the cellar and then to sort and integrate it all was just a fantastic answer to prayer. Thank you all so much.”

Staff at the Phoenix Cultural Centre said:

Just a quick note to say thank you very much for arranging the help for us yesterday. The team were great and finished the whole job which was amazing as there was a lot to cover. We really enjoyed their company as well.
