Surrey academic joins Hospitality Professional Association Asset Management committee
Dr Wang has been invited to join the newly formed HOSPA Asset Management committee. HOSPA helps hospitality’s Finance, Marketing, Revenue Management and IT professionals to develop their careers, network with colleagues and keep up-to-date with industry trends and developments. The Asset Management committee specifically aims to advance the knowledge and skillset of hospitality professionals in an increasingly asset-light marketplace.
Dr Wang is Programme Leader for the MSc International Hotel Management course and Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Revenue Management in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM) at the University of Surrey. Since her arrival in September 2017, she also led the successful validation of the UK’s first postgraduate certificate course in Hotel Investment and Asset Management (PGCert HIAM). This new course was developed with relevant industry partners for experienced hospitality professionals in order to address the identified shortage of specialists in the HIAM area.
Dr Wang said: “I appreciate the opportunity to serve on the committee and look forward to working together with the HOSPA community to address the changing needs of hospitality professional education.
“As the only academic member on the committee, I will capitalise on my international hotel management background and almost two decades of hospitality research and lecturing experiences to aid the development of current and future hospitality asset managers.”
Dr Wang’s academic input is very valuable to the committee and the University of Surrey should play an influential role in professional development, especially when bridging the gaps between industry development and university teaching and curriculum design.
