Surrey Computer Science contributed to IAPR/IEEE Winter School on Biometrics (WSB) 2017

Dr Norman Poh of the Department contributed to organisation of IAPR/IEEE Winter School on Biometrics (WSB 2017), held at the Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong, China, from 9-13 January, 2017.

Dr Norman Poh of the Department served as a co-director of WSB 2017 along with Prof Zhenan Sun of Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Automation, supporting Prof Pong C Yeun who was the director of the school. Dr Poh also gave a lecture on entitled “Multimodal Biometrics with Auxiliary Information: Quality, User-specific, Cohort information and beyond”. Around 40 students, researchers and academics from all over China took part in the school. There were 16 lecturers presenting fundamental and advanced topics on various biometric modalities and multimodal biometrics, as well as machine learning including deep learning.

The IAPR/IEEE Winter School on Biometrics was held at Hong Kong Baptist University on 9-13 January, 2017. It was jointly organized by the University of Surrey's Department of Computer Science, the Hong Kong Baptist University and the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Prior to WSB2017, Dr Poh initiated and also contributed to the organisation of Biometric School (Winter Edition) in 2012, 2014, and 2016 (www.biometricschool.org).
