Why Surrey?

The Postgraduate Certificate in Management Education is delivered by Surrey Business School’s Centre for Management Learning (CML) - a leading centre for the enquiry into the theory and practice of management learning. The Centre is working to improve and enhance teaching excellence in management through industry-formed curriculum design and innovative teaching practices.

Programme overview

Our unique Postgraduate Certificate in Management Education has been designed for individuals with professional experience in management who want to transition into teaching. It is the first programme of its kind in the UK to offer a credit-bearing qualification.

This distance learning programme will prepare you to utilise your professional experience and expertise in a teaching role. You will learning how to teach innovatively and with business practice in mind. Over six months, you will be provided with the skills and knowledge necessary to work as a teacher in higher education or as an independent management learning consultant.

Teaching is comprehensive as well as convenient and accessible, as the first three modules are provided online through our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Each student is allocated a personal learning advisor to guide them through the programme and its assessments. The programme concludes with the fourth module being delivered via a three-day summer school, in which teaching is put into practice. Upon completion of the programme, you will graduate with a qualification in management education.

This programme has been designed in consultation with industry and the Department of Higher Education.
