“This partnership-based approach to the delivery of education and training for Surrey students, is at the heart of our curriculum” says Matthew Jones, Director of Veterinary Partnerships. “Surrey Vet School is predicated on a final year hosted at a range of rotations in veterinary practices forming our partner network. In the fourth year, we want to build confidence in our students, so that they are fully prepared to capitalise on their final year of workplace-based learning out in partner practices, in line with the School’s ethos. Our first group of students has just returned from Lumbry Park and are hugely enthused about their experience. Our thanks go to the Lumbry Park team and to the RSPCA who have entrusted their animals to us”.
Ray Girotti, Hospital Director at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists said “We are proud to be associated with such an innovative and novel approach to training tomorrow’s vets. We pride ourselves on our association with the University of Surrey School of Veterinary Medicine and it is truly rewarding to seeing students who started off just a few years ago develop their skills in such a rewarding fashion.”
