Alex, previously Head Coach at PEAC Academy, shares his experience of an MBA at Surrey.

"The reason I chose to come to Surrey was because of everything I read online. All of the accreditations the Business School had were very appealing, and studying in the UK has always been something I wanted to do.

I have been a professional ice hockey player for the past six years. I played junior ice hockey at Notre Dame School in Wilcox, Saskatchewan, and from there I received an NCAA scholarship to Fredonia State University just outside of Buffalo New York.

After my time at Fredonia I signed my first professional contract with the Ontario Reign – an affiliate team of the Los Angeles Kings, located in Ontario, California.

I chose to study for an MBA because I know this will help me succeed in my long term goal of becoming an Athletic Director. I think an MBA will open a lot of doors for me, and it is something I have always known that I wanted to achieve.

The academic staff on this course are first class. They treat everyone with respect and they make themselves available for their students whenever we need them. I have also really enjoyed how our class has been able to go to different companies and work on different projects, actually giving us the hands on experience.

Surrey’s world-class sports facilities at Surrey Sports Park have also been a big plus. Training and being able just to go shoot a ball around has kept me sane during each semester and kept me active. I have even helped out Surrey’s local Hockey team, the Guildford Flames with their training!"
