Engineering Manager at BAE Systems, Amar shares his experiences studying for an MBA at Surrey.

Why did you choose an MBA at The University of Surrey?

Surrey was an obvious choice for me. The executive programme suited my family commitments and the structure of the course keeps me properly motivated.

Furthermore, I had done my Engineering Masters at Surrey and knew that I was going to get a quality education at a university which was rapidly gaining recognition.

Did you find you could implement what you learnt in class on the weekends at work?

I have already managed to apply some of what I have learned to re-invent how we think about projects we do and manage them more successfully. I have also managed to engage more meaningfully in senior management meetings and have been promoted up a level of seniority.

What is the most useful skill you have learned during your time on the Surrey MBA course so far?

The ability to look at things from a different angle, draw on the perspectives of my cohort and analyse business challenges in a structured way, which have already enabled me to solve a variety of problems.

What new opportunities have you gained being at Surrey?

My profile has started climbing drastically at work and I can even see expanding horizons for going into business on my own, something which I would never have dreamed of before.
