The Rise of Dagong Global and the International Reform of Credit Rating Agencies

Choosing Surrey

I wanted to improve my academic research skills and to enhance my understanding of the law of international financial regulation. My supervisor has superb expertise in financial regulation and inspired me to unlock some of the problematic areas in the financial world. Surrey is an outstanding institution for research and innovation. It has uniqueness, as well as sophistication, in many fields for modern research.

My study focuses on the reasons and solutions of the international financial system from the perspective of credit risk management.

Life at Surrey

The overall experience of studying at Surrey is wonderful and positive. I’m so fortunate to carry out my research with experts who are interested in my specific area of study.

The Doctoral College is an excellent institution at the heart of the University for research purposes and there are several clubs and classes for postgraduate researchers. Researchers’ lives become very enjoyable because the University has invested abundantly in areas and facilities to improve students’ academic health and wellbeing.

My supervisors

My supervisors are extremely helpful and approachable. They’re always there when I have concerns and have supported my research project throughout, with their expertise and critiques. With this wonderful experience, I‘ve gained so much confidence and skills to continue with my academic research career.

The Law PhD programme at Surrey not only nurtured me as a young student to become a mature, independent researcher within two to three years, but it’s also helped me to find the answer to my research question.

Collaboration opportunities

"There are several opportunities for collaboration, such as university-level conferences and seminars. The School of Law always provides opportunities for researchers to present their findings."

My achievements

I was offered valuable opportunities to teach core modules and deliver talks about my research at conferences. I organised the first postgraduate research conference for the School of Law and I would like to thank the School for its support and the provision of this fantastic platform for the promotion of our researchers.

The future

I’ll continue to work on more research projects and academic works after my fantastic experience at Surrey. Surrey provides a lot of opportunities for career development for postgraduate researchers, such as the Graduate Certificate for Learning and Teaching, which is an awarding-winning course in the UK.
