What attracted you to choose the University of Surrey and to study the MBA here?
I was a middle manager in an education institution looking to broaden my knowledge and skills for career progression at senior management level. I was living and working in Surrey so the location was convenient but the part-time two evenings per week format fitted well with continuing full time work.

What were the best things about your course?
Some of the tutors were particularly expert and I personally enjoyed most the Marketing, Project Management and Strategy modules.

How did you change as a person during your time as an MBA student?
I felt a much wider range of knowledge of the broader range of management than my work experience to date had enabled.

What impact did the Surrey MBA have upon your career?
I have often said I use it daily without consciously realising it, but on reflection realise the value it added. It has also made a difference in terms of job prospects.

I am now Vice-President Contracts and Funding for Colleges of Excellence, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a KSA Government initiative to introduce Technical & Vocational Education and Training for 450,000 students at world-class standards in 150 new colleges within 5 years.

What are your thoughts on the importance of networking? Is a strong personal network important in business?
Yes, networking is critical to senior management although my specific field of education management has meant I have developed this most myself rather than through MBA or Surrey University contacts.

What one piece of advice would you give to people considering the Surrey MBA?
The practical applied approach and breadth of module coverage was great which for me were just right and I would thoroughly recommend.

What is your strongest or happiest memory of your time at Surrey?
Studying in depth the story of Concorde as an example of Project Management!
