"Being able to explore and study in a completely different culture is an experience that I would recommend to any fellow politics student."
Jamie Convisser took part in a summer school at Seoul National University organised by the International Relations Office.
"My six weeks studying at Seoul National University was a really great and rewarding experience. Being able to explore and study in a completely different culture is an experience that I would recommend to any fellow politics student.
There were a wide range of interesting modules taught by lecturers from all around the world. The two modules I chose (East Asian Politics and North Korean Foreign Policy) were taught excellently by a British lecturer from Cambridge and a Korean lecturer from Kyung Hee University.
The coordinators of the summer programme organised great social events and field trips, including overnight stays to villages, a trip to Korean baseball and tickets to a live broadcast of Korea’s Got Talent!
I also got the chance to visit the famous border between North and South Korea, the Demilitarised Zone, which was fascinating. You are guaranteed to make some really valuable contacts for the future, as well as some fantastic friends and I am very grateful to Surrey for holding such a beneficial link with Seoul National University."
