Surrey Sunflower Selfie Competition Terms and Conditions

By entering the Surrey Sunflower Selfie competition (“Competition”) and submitting a photo using #surreysunflower, entrants confirm that they have read and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. If an entrant is under the age of 18, the entrant confirms that their parent/guardian agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.

  1. The Competition is held by the University of Surrey, Guildford, Surrey, GU2 7XH (the “University”).
  2. The Competition is open to all outlined below who reside in the UK:
    1. prospective students attending the University’s Open Day event on 25 June 2022 and their parents/carers;
    2. University Instagram followers;
    3. University students; and
    4. University alumni.
  3. By entering the Competition you confirm that you are eligible to do so.  The University may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the Competition.
  4. The Competition is free to enter.
  5. Entrants may enter the Competition by growing a sunflower and posting a flower selfie on Instagram using #surreysunflower.
  6. The Competition is open to entries from 25 June 2022.
  7. All entries must be submitted on Instagram by 23:59 on 31 August 2022.  Any entries received after this time will not be entered into the Competition.
  8. Only one entry per person is permitted.
  9. Members of the University’s Gardening Society and the University’s campus team will judge all valid entries and select a winner. 
  10. The decision of the judges will be final, and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
  11. The winner will be notified by a message from the University via the University’s Instagram channel during the week commencing 12 September 2022.  The winner must provide their email address to the University to receive their prize. 
  12. The winner will also be announced on the University’s Instagram page.
  13. The competition prize will be a £150 Amazon voucher. The University reserves the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond the University’s reasonable control make it necessary to do so. This will be emailed within 14 working days of notification.
  14. The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered.
  15. Personal data supplied during this Competition will only be processed as set out in the University’s Privacy Notice:  
  16. The University does not accept responsibility for network, computer or software failures of any kind and has no responsibility for lost, delayed, or misdirected entries.
  17. The University reserves the right to refuse entry, or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.
  18. The University reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, or amend the Competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
  19. The Competition will be governed by English law and entrants to the Competition submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
