Mr Pateman explored the current state of the banking sector and its impact on the local economy, as well as taking part in a Q&A session on the subject. Prior to the lecture, Mr Pateman visited the Santander branch at the University and met with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Christopher Snowden.
The University of Surrey signed an agreement with Santander (through its Santander Universities Global Division) in December 2008 for the bank to provide funding for scholarships and mobility grants, as well as contributions to enhance Surrey’s links with Brazilian universities.
Discussing his visit, Mr Pateman said that “the University of Surrey has been recently ranked number one for graduate employability in the UK. In the current economic climate this is a fantastic achievement. Having met the Vice-Chancellor and the students today I can understand why the University is in such a highly regarded position.”
