Surrey Centre for Cyber Security
Our Centre (SCCS) focuses on cybersecurity research and consolidates cyber activities across the University. Since 2014, SCCS has been one of UK's NCSC-recognised Academic Centres of Excellence in Cyber Security Research (ACE-CSR). Out of SCCS, we also head Surrey's gold-level NCSC-recognised Academic Centres of Excellence in Cyber Security Education (ACE-CSE), since 2020 when this NCSC initiative started. We work with academics, industry, and government, to establish methods and techniques which innovate in cybersecurity from design to threat prevention, from the viewpoints of research and education. Indeed, our university was awarded Cyber University of the Year at the National Cyber Awards 2023.
SCCS is a pan-University centre, with 20+ permanent academics and 60+ researchers, most being part of the Computer Science Research Centre.
Gold status in cyber security education
Through the ACE-CSE programme, Surrey is recognised as a “beacon of excellence”, supporting not only specialist education but also outreach to schools, communities and industry to help address the UK’s growing need for cyber security skills.
