Mechanical engineering sciences

Mechanical engineering sciences are arguably the broadest and most fundamental of the engineering disciplines, making them a stimulating and engaging field to study. Mechanical, automotive and aerospace engineers have made the machines we use today possible and they’re developing the technologies we’ll rely on tomorrow. Biomedical engineers, meanwhile, apply engineering principles to solve medical problems, enabling human mobility in amputees or those with serious illnesses in ways not previously possible.

Here, you’ll have access to a variety of industry-standard facilities, including our state-of-the-art Design Centre and the UK’s only environmental wind tunnel.

You'll also study among highly satisfied students, as we are ranked top 10 for overall student satisfaction* in mechanical engineering in the National Student Survey 2024.
