Accommodation FAQs for Clearing students
Is accommodation available for students who come through Clearing?
Yes. We have rooms available for Clearing applicants.
Am I guaranteed a room if I apply?
Yes, you will be guaranteed accommodation so long as you refer yourself to us via UCAS by 5pm on Friday 14 August and apply for accommodation by 5pm on Monday 17 August.
When can I apply?
Once you have referred yourself to us through UCAS, you will receive a student ID from us (this will begin with a “6 or 7”). You can then apply for accommodation. In some cases, there may be a delay of up to 48 hours between receiving your student ID and being able to apply.
I applied for accommodation before but have now secured a place on a different course through Clearing. Do I need to reapply?
No. If you already submitted an accommodation application, you do not need to apply again.
How do I apply?
You will need to register for an account and submit your application online.
View our detailed step-by-step guide on how to apply.
I need an accessible room. Is that possible?
We have a limited number of accessible rooms, so we cannot guarantee availability. We will, however, do our best to accommodate your needs. To maximise your chances, please:
Submit your accommodation application promptly
Contact our Disability and Neurodiversity Service at disability@surrey.ac.uk.
When will I find out if I have been allocated a room, and what happens next?
We aim to process applications as quickly as possible, but due to high demand, it may take up to a week for us to respond. If you are allocated a room, you will receive an email and be able to view and accept your offer.
To accept an offer, you will need to pay a £250 prepayment.
If I don’t want a university room, what other options are available?
Guildford has a strong supply of private sector housing, including purpose-built student accommodation, as well as rooms and properties from private landlords.
