Why choose Surrey?

At Surrey Business School, we are a world-class hub of business and learning, bringing together teaching excellence and pioneering research.

Strong partnerships

You will benefit from our strong links with businesses and our in-depth insight into the digital economy, which feeds directly into the courses’ compulsory modules. We have a vast network of partners with whom we work in consultancy on idea creation and also live case studies. As a Surrey MBA student you will be at the heart of these projects, addressing specific challenges and using your skills to tackle even the most complex issues.

Global connections

We are one of the UK’s most culturally diverse universities, with students coming from over 120 different countries. As an MBA student you will develop lifelong personal and professional connections with a diverse and high-calibre group of fellow students. Many of our academics have invaluable business experience, which feeds directly into your learning. They have also published their research in top business journals, share their expert comment through the national press and media, and worked with some of the world’s most innovative companies to improve business performance.

Advantageous location

Our connections in the wider business world mean that you will benefit from the strength of our network as well as our fantastic location in south-east England. Your learning will take place in Guildford, at the heart of Surrey, a county renowned as a centre for business, technology and innovation. Guildford is also well-connected and a perfect base for exploration. You can drive to two of the UK’s largest international airports in just 35 minutes, or take a 34-minute train ride directly into the centre of London, a global hub of arts, culture and entertainment.

Collaboration and research excellence

We are proud to be a world-class, research-led University, and alongside our worldwide partners, we are addressing major global challenges. As an MBA student, opportunities for collaboration and shared learning are plentiful, with Surrey being home to:

  • The 5G/6G Innovation Centre - the largest UK academic research centre dedicated to the development of the next generation of mobile and wireless communications
  • Surrey Research Park - a major centre of excellence in technology, science, health and engineering supporting inventive business ideas
  • Surrey Incubation - one of the most successful science parks in Europe. As a founding member of the SETsquared Partnership, they support high-growth technology businesses
  • Student enterprise - SETsquared also supports student enterprise by offering a variety of opportunities for students to develop their enterprising spirit and start their own business.
Teams of Surrey MBA students have been assigned to perform product market research for a number of start-up companies in the SETsquared Surrey business incubator on the University’s Research Park. Each team performs market research based on the requirements of their allocated company and presents its results to the company CEO at the end of the project.
