Surrey Creative writing alumna secures six-figure book deal

The world rights to a new young adult book series by University of Surrey Creative Writing MA graduate Rachael Featherstone-Davis has been won by Walker Books, after a six-figure bidding war in a five-way auction.

The first book, ‘Oxford Slays’ is to be published in 2025, and is described by the publisher as a "riveting story of revenge, secret cults, privilege and murder", set at the University of Oxford.

Rachel’s children’s picture book ‘I am Not a Prince!’ (Orchard Books), was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize earlier this year.

Head of the School of Literature and Languages Professor Patricia Pulham comments: “It’s wonderful to hear that Walker Books has snapped up Rachel’s latest creation, 'Oxford Slays'. All at SLL wish her every success with this new venture!”
