Welcome to the School of Literature and Languages at the University of Surrey. The School brings together the academic disciplines of English literature, creative writing, film studies, modern languages, linguistics, intercultural communication and translation studies.

We are ranked in the top three for modern languages and linguistics in the Guardian University Guide 2019 and in the top 10 for creative writing in the Complete University Guide 2019.

We offer evening language courses, a Global Graduate Award in Languages, and intensive pre-sessional English language courses, designed to take you to the level of English ability and skill required for your studies. We are also a British Council accredited IELTS test centre. ​​​​​​
