Welcome to the School of Literature and Languages at the University of Surrey. The School brings together the academic disciplines of English literature, creative writing, film studies, modern languages, linguistics, intercultural communication and translation studies.

We are ranked in the top five for Iberian languages in the The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019, top 10 for creative writing in the Complete University Guide 2020 and top 10 for modern languages and linguistics in the Guardian University Guide 2020.

Other ways to study with us
We offer evening language courses, a Global Graduate Award in Languages, and intensive pre-sessional English language courses, designed to take you to the level of English ability and skill required for your studies. We are also a British Council accredited IELTS test centre.
