Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences triumphs in National Student Survey 2026

The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (FHMS) at Surrey has achieved outstanding results in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2026. 

FHMS has eight undergraduate courses ranked top 5 in the UK for overall student satisfaction* in the NSS 2026, including two ranked 1st in the UK. These are:

  • Biological Sciences BSc – 1st 
  • Veterinary Medicine and Science BVMSci – 1st 
  • Veterinary Biosciences BSc – 2nd
  • Biochemistry BSc/MSci – 4th 
  • Microbiology BSc – 5th 
  • Food Science and Nutrition BSc – 5th 
  • Nutrition BSc – 5th 
  • Nutrition and Dietetics BSc – 5th 

Two courses are also ranked top 20: Sport and Exercise Science BSc (14th) and Psychology BSc (17th, up an impressive 16 places).

The University of Surrey is now top 10 in the UK for student satisfaction, rising from 15th to 7th in the UK, with improved scores in every section of the survey and surpassing every Russell Group university. 

FHMS comprises five schools, which offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses in psychology, veterinary medicine, biosciences, health sciences, and medicine.

 

*Measured by % positivity based on Q1-24 for all providers listed in the Guardian University Guide league table. The subject groupings for FHMS corresponding to the courses listed above are as follows: Biosciences (non-specific); Veterinary medicine and dentistry; Animal science; Molecular biology, biophysics and biochemistry; Microbiology and cell science; Nutrition and dietetics; Sport and exercise sciences; Psychology (non-specific).
