Surrey Business School forms new partnership with the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad

Surrey Business School (SBS) and the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) have entered into an official partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in March 2019, spanning the next three years. Founded in 1961, IIMA is an EQUIS-accredited institution and one of the most prestigious management schools in India.

Both institutions now have a framework to build collaborative activities on, which will include research, and student exchanges at Masters and PhD level.

In the build up towards formalising the agreement, a series of visits took place by SBS faculty members including Professor Steve Wood, Dr Cécile Emery and Dr Christos Mavis, and paved the way for progress in this direction.

SBS looks forward to welcoming IIMA students for their first visit this summer.

Professor Rakesh Basant, Dean-Alumni & External Relations IIMA, said: “IIMA is delighted to partner with SBS to undertake a variety of activities that will enhance learning opportunities in both campuses. The Agreement provides an enabling structure to leverage academic capabilities in the two institutions through a variety of activities including research collaborations and mobility of faculty, Masters and Doctoral students. We look forward to a vibrant and intellectually stimulating partnership.”

Professor Ansgar Richter, Dean of Surrey Business School, said: “It is a privilege to be partnering with IIMA. I have visited IIMA several times over the past few years, and it is an outstanding place for management learning and research. Our partnership offers unique opportunities for both of our institutions, for staff and students alike. Over the past few months, several joint projects have already taken shape, and we are looking forward to extending these in the years to come.”
