Surrey climbs six places to 25th in Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027

Improvements in teaching quality and student experience have helped the University of Surrey climb six places to 25th in the UK in The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027.

Along with improvements in teaching quality (where Surrey now ranks equal 19th in the UK) and student experience (where it ranks 7th based on the National Student Survey*), the University also scored well in continuation – the proportion of students who carry on into their second year.

Twenty Surrey subjects feature in the guide’s top 20 subject tables, including Hospitality, Leisure, Recreation and Tourism at 2nd, Food Science at equal 2nd, Veterinary Science at 5th, French at 4th and Creative Writing at 8th.

This builds on Surrey’s strongest National Student Survey result in years. The University’s overall student satisfaction reached 87.7 per cent in NSS 2026, placing it 7th in the sector and ahead of every Russell Group university, with improvement across every section of the survey compared with the previous year.
