Biography
Dr. Xin He obtained his PhD degree in economics and MA degree in mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh in the US. His BSc and MSc degrees, both in applied mathematics, were obtained from Zhejiang University in China. Prior to joining Surrey International Institute (SII-DUFE), Dr. He worked at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) in Shanghai and Central Unversity of Finance and Economics (CUFE) in Beijing. Dr. He served as a PhD supervisor at SUFE (a Project 211 university in China), where he taught and advised Chinese and international PhD students in economics. Dr. He is an avid ping pong player, once winning a championship at a tournament while studying at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. He's research interests include real estate finance and economics, marketing analytics, banking, and quantitative trading with AI. His research has appeared in such top field journals as Marketing Science (UTD24 journal), Real Estate Economics (flagship journal of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association), and Journal of Real Estate Research (flagship journal of the American Real Estate Society). His research has also been presented at top finance and real estate conferences/meetings such as Financial Management Association Annual Meeting, AREUEA-ASSA Annual Conference, and American Real Estate Society Annual Meeting. Dr. He is among the most published researchers in mainland China in the two major academic real estate journals (ranked #4 as of May 2026). He serves as a reviewer for Journal of Real Estate Research, Journal of Asian Economics, etc. As a team member, he was awarded a research grant from the National Social Science Fund of China and another from the Ministry of Education of China.

Dr. He has taught a variety of modules and courses at the bachelor's, master's and PhD levels, including Business Mathematics, Financial Mathematics with Excel, Probability and Statistics, Stochastic Processes for Finance, Financial Management, Corporate Finance and Markets, Financial Markets and Institutions, Investments, Introductory Microeconomics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, Advanced Macroeconomics, Intercultural Comparison and Management and Professional Development for Accounting and Finance.
Dr. He has so far supervised 11 master's theses in finance at Dongbei Univeristy of Finance and Economics (DUFE). While working at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE), Dr. He was twice voted by PhD students as a finalist for the “Best Teacher of the Year” award. At SII-DUFE, he received “full marks” on four occasions in teaching evaluations by undergraduate students.
