Undergraduate

If you are studying for Cypriot qualifications, you will need a suitable equivalent grade to apply for our undergraduate courses. The table below shows grade equivalencies for Cyprus.

Minimum standard in English and Mathematics

If you are applying for an undergraduate course at Surrey, you must meet our minimum standards for English and mathematics.

English: IELTS Academic required.

Mathematics: Apolytirion, 15 in a mathematics-based subject.

Some courses may require higher grades in English and mathematics and/or additional subjects, so please check the requirements provided on individual course pages.

Undergraduate foundation courses

If you do not meet the direct entry requirements for a course, you can apply to study on one of our UK/ EU foundation courses. If you are applying from Cyprus, we typically look for a minimum of 16.5 in the Apolytirion.

Postgraduate

You can apply for our undergraduate masters courses if you are a student at the University of Cyprus. If you are a graduate from a private college, you will be considered on an individual basis.

You can apply for our MPhil/PhD courses if you have a masters degree.

A Bachelors degree (four years) or a pytchion (four years and from the University of Cyprus) with a minimum score of 7.0 out of 10. Alternatively, a Bachelors/ptychion certificate (four years) with a GPA of 3.5.

2:2

A Bachelors degree (four years) or a ptychion (four years and from the University of Cyprus) with a minimum score of 6.5 out of 10. Alternatively, a Bachelors/ptychion certificate (four years) with a GPA of 3.0.

First A Bachelors degree (four years) or a ptychion (four years and from the University of Cyprus) with a minimum score of 8.3 out of 10. Alternatively, a Bachelors/ptychion certificate (four years) with a GPA of 4.0.

English language requirements and courses

All our students require a good standard of English language to be eligible to study with us. If you don’t meet our requirements, we offer intensive pre-sessional English language courses, designed to take you to the level of English ability and skill required for your studies.
