Putting digital marketing into action

People collaborating in office

Student teams apply their learning from the classroom in a project to support digital marketing activity of designated companies. This is supported by outside speakers from industry, including former students now working in key digital marketing roles in companies, and by a workshop with the FIGMA design tool.

Students gain invaluable insights into how theory works in practice and offer unique skills and perspectives to support their designated companies. Their expertise covers a range of topics including customer journey mapping, social media management, website UI / UX design and SEO management.

How it works

People collaborating

Companies are recruited based on feedback for their project proposal which should highlight a key digital marketing challenge where the student team can create impact. The company stakeholder should also be prepared to support the student team to make them as effective as possible.

Initially, student teams will evaluate current digital marketing activity to make sure that they understand the context.

Based on a stakeholder presentation, the team will then execute agreed tasks for the business challenge which they carry out for the remainder of the term. Students are expected to transfer learning to the company stakeholder and create tangible impact as part of the project.

The strategy document and tactical plan generated during the Digital Marketing Corporate Challenge will make a positive impact on our marketing activities. Very impressive. Andrew Cawthorne, Director of Business Development, Surrey Satellite Ltd
